A 1 hour reading is $90 and 1/1/2 hour is $125
"The I Ching or classic of Change is the world’s oldest and most sophisticated system of wisdom divination, a powerful tool and spiritual vehicle that can help us to navigate the voyage of life. It is designed to help people understand and work with the hidden and unconscious forces shaping the situation we confront and to keep us connected with the creative process of life. It brings out the guiding spirit and the inner voice that helps us on our Way.”
- Dr. Stephen Karcher from the ‘Total I Ching, Myths for Change’
You are invited to Body on Monday and Tuesday afternoons for I Ching consultations with the guiding assistance of Colleen Kelley who has studied for 4 years with Dr. Stephen Karcher the author and translator of ‘The Total I Ching’, a recent brilliant and soulful version of the Yi.
One approaches this “portable altar” with a question. It is in this process of inquiry and formulating the question with Colleen and submitting it to the wisdom of the YI that the larger knowing reveals itself. Here in this intimate conversation underlying patterns are revealed, the mystery of synchronicity summoned and we can then look into the mirror of our heart through the powerful, evocative and transformative symbols of the Yi.

"Colleen Kelley has studied with teachers from wisdom traditions from around the world for over 30 years. She is highly intuitive and her work is based on a whole raft of traditional spiritual trainings and a long history of profound meditative practice." Dr. Martin Goodman, Author and Educator

East meets West in Pet Care
Integrating Naturopathic and Conventional Medicine in Veterinary Care
with DVMs Eugene Aversa and Audrey Shannon
Sliding scale: $10-$15
Dogs and cats are becoming ill at an alarming and tragic rate. And veterinary medicine, like its human counterpart, is going through tremendous change in order to address the situation. This evening will cover some of the ways naturopathically minded vets are treating animals here in Santa Fe and throughout the nation. Find out how you can prevent and treat your pet with some of the most progressive veterinary thinking available today.
Discussed this evening will be the necessity of integrating naturopathic and conventional medicine in veterinary care as the most timely and progressive means to addressing illness in our beloved cats and dogs.
Dr. Eugene Aversa, DVM, graduated from the Ohio state university with a doctorate in veterinary medicine in 1998. During veterinary college he was an avid student of traditional Chinese medicine, studying from both college instructors, as well as classical Chinese medical texts. He has since gone on to pursue many other naturopathic medicines, including homeopathy, massage, spinal adjustment, herbal medicine, and prayer.
Since graduating he has worked in general, emergency, and holistic practice. as a NM licensed veterinarian, he is currently the owner of Olive Branch Animal Hospital in Santa Fe, whose major focus is furthering the integration of naturopathic and conventional approaches to veterinary care, which will be the general topic for the evening.
From his years carefully observing patients, Dr. Aversa has come to realize that neither naturopathic nor conventional is always the best primary medicine. The key is knowing the relative strengths and weaknesses of a given medicine, understanding the given medical situation at hand, and crafting the best approach for a given patient. As he says, "I have no allegiance to any given medicine. My allegiance is to the patient only."
Dr. Audrey Shannon, DVM, graduated from Washington state university in 2000 with a doctortate in veterinary medicine. As a licensed NM veterinarian, Dr. Shannon has over 10 years experience working with animals using traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM), which is her primary focus. She has studied extensively with human and veterinary herbalists and acupuncturists. The broad foundation and extensive available resources in TCVM allow her to offer the full extent and scope of medical healing available in this modality.

Manju Jois, the oldest son of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, and recognized world wide as theforemost authority on Ashtanga Yoga, uses only the ancient practices, offering truly authentic guidance for all who wish to follow Ashtanga’s life enriching path to Enlightenment. Manju Jois began his own personal yoga practice at the age of 7 with his father as his Guru and began teaching at the age of 15. He has taught continuously throughout the world for the last 45 years.
Manju is dedicated to his mission of teaching the ancient tradition of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, for a total mind-body-spirit unification with Self and God. Manju and his father, Shri Pattabhi Jois, brought Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga to America in 1975 and Manju has traveled worldwide teaching this tradition as taught to Pattabhi Jois by his legendary teacher T Krishnamacharya.
Ashtanga Yoga is a form of Hatha Yoga that uses a powerful sequence of postures combined with breath to create an internal heat that opens the muscles and purifies the body. Ashtanga Yoga is an ancient systematic practice of yoga that slowly builds in difficulty to allow students to safely access their full potential. Focus on breath, balance, and energy allows students to bring all their attention to the flow of postures in moving meditation. Ashtanga yoga is a rigorous, physically demanding practice in a heated room.
Manju will introduce the original Sanskrit counting method, helping students learn the correct breath sequence of Primary Series. A combination of meditation chants, pranayamas and asanas make each practice session the purest experience of Ashtanga Yoga. The Shanti Mantras, or Vedic Peace Chants, spread the benefits of practice beyond the self. Taking the time to learn and repeat the Shanti Mantras is very powerful -- having an occasion to practice them with others is astounding. Manju offers truly authentic guidance for all who wish to follow Ashtanga’s life-enriching path to Enlightenment.
Manju’s dedicated life long mission is to provide training for students and teachers in the ancient traditions of authentic Ashtanga Yoga. He is honored to offer guidance to all who wish to learn and benefit from Ashtanga Yoga’s ancient and time-honored practices. Manju’s teaching style is spiritual, intensive, inspiring and humorous. He is renowned for assisting students deeper into poses. He honors the ancient Ashtanga tradition and teaches his students with clarity and enthusiasm. We invite you to join us. Enjoy this rare opportunity to learn from a genuine Indian Master as he guides you to “Unite with Yourself”. Ashtanga Weekend Workshops are suitable for all students of all levels.

Ask the Doctor
"Natural approaches to cholesterol reduction, prevention and treatment of heart diseases and diabetes (syndrome X - metabolic syndrome)"
Ongoing series of free evening classes
with Dr. Henni Fitzpatrick, MD
Free
An MD since 1985, Hennie Fitzpatrick has been practicing Biological Medicine since 2000 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She holds the position of Medical Director for the non-profit corporation Life Harmonies Institute, a living sustainable business system dedicated to human wellness, and the educational, economic and ecological integration of the northern New Mexico communities. In addition Dr Fitzpatrick is involved with Health Care Without Harm, Physicians for Social Responsibility, Bioneers, Society for Teachers of Family Medicine, Human Rights Campaign and Safe Harbor. She is committed to combining holistic medicine, naturo-pathic treatments and biological dentistry to restore each of us to vibrant good health. Her focus is on understanding complex interactions between internal and external environments and how that relates to your personal situation.
Henni’s presentations show how biological medicine treats individuals, not diseases. She emphasizes how symptoms are messages from the body which are asking for attention. Exploring these symptoms thoroughly is the key to restoring health. Investigating the symptoms of where-you-are-now is like evaluating the puzzle of your life so you can bring it into balance. As you do this, the symptoms will disappear as your body regenerates.
She will show how aging and dis-ease has a direct correlation to stored toxicity and the body’s inability to digest and absorb nutrients. Your body needs to be clear to receive food energy. Henni wants each 1 ½ hour class to become a community conversation where all your questions are addressed. Handouts will be provided.
This ongoing series of free monthly classes will empower you to really understand and maintain your health, vitality and sense of well being for the rest of your active, happy life.

In Search of the Lost Feminine: Myths that Radically Reshaped Civilization
Book reading and signing with Craig S. Barnes
Free
An astonishing treatise that rethinks the roots of our society, In Search of the Lost Feminine explains the mysterious disappearance of ancient cultures in which women and the environment were at the center, a loss that has dramatically influenced 3,500 years of Western history. Delving into the historical question posed by the best-seller The Da Vinci Code, Craig Barnes traces the archaeological and societal forces that shaped our current culture of misogyny and glorification of war, with surprising revelations at every turn.
"Combining the rare alchemy of a literary scholar, legal practitioner, and explorer extraordinaire, Craig Barnes dares to rewrite the history of Western civilization and vividly resurrects the woman as our vessel of rebirth. A must-read for anyone who worries that we have lost our way."
- Gail Sheehy, author of Passages and Sex and the Seasoned Woman
Craig Barnes grew up under the cottonwoods of eastern Colorado in a world driven by hard work, redeemed by grand champions and County Fair, or by horse races and baseball in the wheat fields, or by the gentle wisdom of a spinster teacher in a three-room country school. When, suddenly, in 1950, war shuffled the world—and the Barnes family—deck, he was transplanted abruptly to England, Greece and Switzerland, and, in the long run, to Burma, Germany, and Russia. Over the years he has worked as an infantry officer, a laborer, a trial lawyer, a lobbyist, and run for Congress in Denver. He initiated the Sunshine and Sunset concepts in Colorado legislation, was co-counsel on the Denver school integration case and the nation's first comparable worth case for women, has been a newspaper columnist for the Rocky Mountain News and a regular commentator on National Public Radio. In the 1980s he negotiated nuclear issues with leaders in the Academy of Sciences in the Kremlin, in the 1990s he facilitated talks between opposing sides in the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan and thereafter led talks to knit together transboundary water agreements between Kazakhstan, Uzbeckistan, Tajickistan, and Kyrghizstan. His stage play Queen Elizabeth I was produced in Santa Fe in 2001 and his stage play King’s Yellow completed a run in 2003, also in Santa Fe. An analysis of the roles of women as they appear in archeology and myth before the patriarchy, In Search Of The Lost Feminine, Decoding the Myths that Radically Reshaped Civilization, is scheduled for publication in June, 2006. He divides his time between Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Marble, Colorado. He has four grown children, ten grandchildren and has been married to his wife Mikaela for 48 years.
