Nia: A Unique Form of Fitness

Bonnie Bennet, our Nia instructor here at BODY, is a Black Belt Nia instructor who has been teaching in Santa Fe for almost a decade. Her Nia class is a harmonious fusion of dance, martial arts, and mindfulness techniques, offering a holistic mind and body experience. Nia transcends the physical to touch your soul and enhance your quality of life.

Nia classes follow a structured progression where you step in a focus, get moving, stretch, and use floor play to build strength and flexibility. Bonnie utilizes cueing to help students connect with their bodies and she guides them to discover not just how the body is made to move but how their “body’s way” is to move. Perhaps most inspiring, is the infusion of musical variety, ensuring each class is a fresh and engaging experience; creating a triad of Movement, Music, and Magic!

Lastly, Bonnie has three rules before you attend her class.

  1. Listen to your body and choose how your body needs to move

  2. Check your expectations and ego at the door 

  3. Have FUN!
