This ancient Hawaiian technique uses sweeping rhythmic movement that massages both the top and underside of your body. Draping is minimal as your therapist kneads/soothes (the meaning of the word ‘Lomi’) in and out like the paws of a contented cat. They may also use gentle stretches and rotations to release tension. When I walked into my massage at BODY, I didn’t know about the Psoas and how it holds on to trauma. The Psoas is a muscle on either side of the spine attached to the femur and pelvis and is associated with our body’s fight or flight response.
